Sarah Gervascio

Founder of Ask Miss Sarah, Early Childhood Behavioral Consultant

The reason I began Ask Miss Sarah, LLC. is because I, myself, have severe ADHD that went undiagnosed until I was 17 years old. In hindsight, I realize that I would have really benefited from having someone interpret my behavior to my bewildered parents and teachers. Over the years, I experienced anger and frustration, impulsivity, severe anxiety, stuttering, and Oppositional Defiant Disorder tendencies. I also exhibited high-risk behavior among scholastic challenges such as information retention, reading comprehension, and listening comprehension– just to name a few. And because of that, I deeply empathize with children struggling with ADHD today. However, now as an adult, and former preschool teacher, I also empathize with parents and teachers. I worked in the Early Education field for over 20 years and used that opportunity to help give words to the bewildering and perplexing behaviors of children– many with undiagnosed ADHD, ODD, or Autism.

Over the course of my career, I learned strategies and skills that many parents and teachers would benefit from knowing and using in their own homes. My approach to coaching is unique because I consult with my clients from their child's perspective. In essence, I give words to their seemingly confusing behaviors. And that's ultimately the underlying problem, right? A breakdown in communication. Combining my own personal experience with ADHD, in tandem with my 20+ years of experience working in Early Childhood Education, has afforded me a unique point of view very different from that of most parents and teachers. My mission is to support parents and teachers with the tools and skills necessary to help nurture, protect, and strengthen the self-worth of all children, ensuring that no child gets left behind regardless of their needs or circumstances.

My Specialties

  • Translating the difficult behaviors of neuro-divergent children of all ages.

  • Training Early Childhood educators and parents on behavior modification techniques.

  • Training in any capacity in the field of Early Childhood Education.

  • How to effectively communicate to children and to parents.

My Approach

Using my personal childhood experiences living with ADHD, and my professional classroom experience, I will help you translate your child or student’s more challenging behaviors. Then, with your input and guidance, I will create a fully customized behavior modification strategy that aims to increase child self awareness, decrease meltdown potential, and increase your ability to communicate to your child so they want to cooperate. This strategy is designed to withstand the growth and changes your child will inevitably go through over time.
